Soilo Irrigate

Direct measurement

See the moisture at the roots before you decide to irrigate.

An in-soil moisture and temperature sensor that tracks root-zone conditions, so irrigation decisions rest on what the soil is doing rather than on a fixed routine or a guess.

Soilo Irrigate in-soil moisture and temperature sensor with three probe pins

The problem

The surface lies. The root zone decides.

Over-irrigation wastes water and energy and can leave roots short of air. Under-irrigation stresses the crop in exactly the weeks it can least afford it. Both happen when the only evidence is how the top of the soil looks.

Without a reading at root depth there is no record either: you cannot learn from last season which irrigations were needed and which were not.

What Soilo Irrigate does

Irrigate puts a measurement where the decision really lives, at the roots, and keeps a history so patterns become visible.

Most irrigation is scheduled by habit: the same hours, the same duration, whatever the weather or the crop is doing. The surface can look dry while the root zone still holds water, or look fine while the roots are running short.

Soilo Irrigate is a probe that sits in the soil and reports moisture and temperature at root depth. Instead of judging by the surface, you can see how the root zone is changing over hours and days, and compare it with when you last irrigated.

It is built to be read with the rest of the Soilo ecosystem: Soilo Essence tells you what the soil is made of and what it needs, Irrigate tells you how wet it is right now, Flow tells you how much water you actually applied, and Valve can carry out the decision. Used alone, it is still a clear window into the root zone.

Measures soil moisture and soil temperature at the probe location. It measures and records; it does not decide for you. Decisions and any automation come from you, the Soilo app, or other Soilo devices connected to it.

How it works

5 steps from Soilo Irrigate to a decision

  1. 1

    Place the probe

Push the probe into the root zone of a representative spot in the field or bed.

  2. 2

    It senses

The probe measures moisture and temperature where the roots are.

  3. 3

    Readings are recorded

Readings are logged so you can see change over time, not just a single number.

  4. 4

    Soilo shows the trend

Moisture is shown against your irrigation history and the rest of your field data.

  5. 5

    You act

Irrigate, wait or adjust duration, based on the root zone and not on the clock.

Key capabilities

What makes Soilo Irrigate useful

Root-zone visibility

See moisture where the roots are, not just on the surface.

History, not snapshots

Trends show how fast a field dries and how long an irrigation really lasts.

Soil temperature alongside moisture

Temperature at depth adds context to how the soil is behaving.

Part of an irrigation loop

Pairs with Flow to measure applied water and Valve to control it.

What it measures

  • Soil moisture at the probe
  • Soil temperature at the probe

Where it is used

  • Open-field vegetables and row crops
  • Orchards and plantations
  • Greenhouses and nurseries
  • Horticulture
  • Landscaping and turf
  • Irrigation trials and demonstrations
Who it is for

Who should buy Soilo Irrigate

Farmers

To irrigate when the root zone needs it, not on a fixed routine.

Irrigation and farm managers

To compare blocks, check that irrigation reached the roots and keep a record.

Greenhouse operators and nurseries

To keep beds and containers in a steady moisture range.

Agronomists and consultants

To back irrigation advice with measurements from the client's own field.

How it helps

  • Better irrigation timing, based on root-zone moisture instead of surface appearance.
  • Fewer unnecessary irrigations when the soil is still holding water.
  • Earlier warning when a block is drying faster than expected.
  • A record of what the soil did after each irrigation, to improve next season's schedule.

Key benefits

  • Irrigation decisions grounded in a measurement at root depth.
  • A clear before-and-after view of every irrigation.
  • Easier comparison between blocks, beds or varieties.
  • A natural starting point for measured, partly automated irrigation.
  • Works alongside Essence, Flow and Valve rather than as an isolated gadget.

With the Soilo app

Soilo app support is being rolled out product by product. Ask the Soilo team which features are live for your region and device before you plan around them.

Use cases

How people use it

A vegetable grower places a probe in a representative bed and waits for the root zone, not the surface, to dry before the next irrigation.

A farm manager compares moisture trends across two blocks to see which one is being over-watered.

A nursery operator tracks container moisture through a hot week to avoid both drought stress and waterlogging.

An agronomist uses before-and-after readings to show a client whether a long irrigation actually reached the roots.
